Vancouver...!

Late next week, we will hop on a plane to Vancouver for a quick 5-day getaway! I definitely need a break from work (and winter) and cannot wait to have two days to myself while David attends a conference.

We went to Vancouver last summer and had a wonderful time. You can read my post here.

This time we are staying in another wonderful downtown hotel with a harbour view room. How posh and how very Vancouver!

Here are some highlights from last year's trip:

Interesting light fixtures in the lobby of the Four Seasons...
A plush bathrobe I wanted to stay in all day long...
Delicious treats I coveted at grocer Meinhardt:

A darling (and affordable) table at Chintz & Company:

Fun and beautifully-styled finds at Liberty on Broadway:
Posh fare at The Cross in Yaletown:

Back to the water: boating in the harbour

A walk along the shore with a dear friend, looking towards the Lions Gate bridge:

Coffee and cake at the Arbutus Cafe in Kits...

Foxgloves in a community garden...

Do you have any suggestions for things to see and do this time?

I love great antique and home decor stores. Ideas????

David has a jam-packed schedule for me this time, but I will have some time to myself for a daytime R&R. Anything I should not miss?

  1. May you get lots of suggestions...

I am sure that nearly everyone in North America deserves a break from winter. This is getting ridiculous!

    Have a lot of fun...

  2. Have a wonderful break - enjoy a taste of spring. No suggestions here since we usually zip through the city from the Island.

  3. I'm heading for Vancouver this weekend. I can hardly wait! I always check out all the stores on South Granville, Hobbs at 2129 41st Avenue and Southlands Nursery.

You probably know already, but Liberty is closing their Broadway store and moving to Yaletown.

    Have a great time!

Vancouver has great Chinese restaurants & Chinese Bistro is a favorite. Then I also love Umbertos, but generally go to the two that are in Whistler.

  7. It looks like you covered a lot of the hot spots on your last visit. There are a number of antique shops on Main Street around 28th Avenue.

The Epicurian Deli on Cypress and West 1st Ave makes to die for cream filled croissants.

My favorite coffee is JJ Bean. There are a few in town. Main/14th, Granville Island(not as good, I think it's the water) & Park & Tilford Mall in North Vancouver which may be a plan because there is also a free garden there if you are into that sort of thing. The bulbs are blooming now.

I am a transplanted Vancouverite living in Carstairs and I miss it a lot. Have a great trip.
