A Simple but Useful Gift

There is nothing I love more than a simple and inexpensive but very useful gift
(actually, I also like posh, expensive and useless ones, but that is another post).

For Christmas, I received this lovely basket from someone who was paying attention to my needs (I might have dropped a hint):
You don't normally see this end of the console table, as it houses David's old stereo which has phenomenal sound (we play our iTunes through it), so it is something kinda ugly that we live with (yes, I know I could get an ipod dock)

The basket is useful for one reason:
To hold my favorite, and well-loved, throw blanket for the sofa!

This means I don't have to ball up the throw and put it somewhere when I don't want to see it on the sofa!

It is amazing how one small thing can make you feel very organized.

  1. Does your cat think it makes a super kitty bed? I might need one or two.

  2. This post made me laugh out loud when you said you also like the expensive useless gifts too. Too funny. Love it. Love the basket too.

  4. Looks fabulous! I had a water hyacinth basket similar to that. Think Tom gave it away by mistake when we were moving.
    Have a great weekend!

I love that someone knew you had just the place and need for a basket like that... I like the idea of putting a throw in a basket to be seen less, but alas, I think my cats would think they'd hit the jackpot and it would become theirs... I'm your newest rss subscriber...

  6. That is a very pretty basket. I spend so much time folding throws in our family room. It seems as soon as I fold it nicely and fluff the pillows, someone parks themselves there under a blanket and shortly walks away leaving the blob. I think a dedicated basket would help me greatly. Thanks for the idea.

  7. Vee,

Biscuit has not discovered the basket, but if it's like the one in our TV room (also full of throws), he will be in it like a shot. There will have to be a magazine placed on top. Then again, since it is deep and there is no view, he might not get in it.

  8. A tisket a tasket, a lovely Biscuit basket.

That's a great idea. I'd probably hide my bills to be paid underneath the blanket too.
