~ Paperwhites (in the Bathroom) ~

The paperwhites have been relocated to my bathroom.

Once they burst into full bloom, David could no longer tolerate the scent in our living room (he's very particular about scents). So...they've been whisked away to the master bathroom (which only I use):

I think they look very pretty here, with all the girlishness going on. You've never seen this tiny room before, but it's one of my favorite spaces in the house. It's painted White Down (OC-131), a nice antique white from Benjamin Moore, the same colour as the master bedroom.

I recently added the little jewellery rack to corral some of my often-worn necklaces:

I have always been a pearl fanatic and have several very good Tahitian black pearl pieces (not shown here). I also love white pearls - these ones are all costume. The three plain white strands came from my grandmother:

I really like the clasp on this one and wear these a lot. Maybe some day I will get a real strand of pearls:

I don't wear much perfume but have a couple of favorites, including Burberry Classic and a little perfume solid by Tokyo Milk called Sencha Bleu (which I discovered at the Thompson & Hanson garden center store in Houston!). I love the Fig Apricot perfume shown below, but it's too strong and too literal to wear, so I sometimes just use it as a room spray.
I forgot to include my favorite Jo Malone perfume which I bought in Paris! I will include it in the next photo shoot...

I also like Banana Republic's discontinued Malachite, which reminds me of childhood - it smells just like the perfume solid inside those Avon perfume brooches my mother sometimes bought when I was a kid.

So the narcissus has a perfect home with its sweet beauty and its heady scent...!

  1. They certainly do look wonderful there and David is spared. You don't react to their scent I can tell else they'd be right out the door. It was fun to catch a glimpse of your necklaces on that sweet rack. Makes them look part of the girly decor and all so elegantly, too.

  3. It's nice to have flowers or a plant in an unexpected place. Mine are just opening and I caught a whiff of them as I passed through the dining room. So far I'm tolerating them.

Agree with AD, would love to see more of the mirror.

  4. I've had them around the house for weeks now and I don't really smell them anymore. Mike does though and said he thought they smelled like cat urine!
But he hasn't said anything since so his nose must have adapted!

  7. Haha, I forgot about those Avon brooches. I am a total pearl addict too. I would love Tahitian pearls--fabulous!
You bath is lovely although I'd agree with the men who hate the smell of paperwhites.

  8. I am so sad that Malachite is discontinued. I love it.
Those grey pearls are to die for, Terri. I love seeing your little space of perfume and pearls - it is so lovely - like you.
    Happy New Year, sweet friend.

  10. I do love your jewellery rack. It's beautiful. Did you get it locally or overseas? I've been trying to find something similar but have so far been unlucky
