Merry Christmas to You!

There's still time for one last blog post before Christmas.

Today is busy - I am baking (a favorite thing) and wrapping presents and we're having people over for Chinese food tonight (how festive)!

At the grocery store this morning, I bought myself a little pot of paperwhites (marked down!), which I wrapped in brown tissue paper and placed next to my pretty angel Santos that a few of you noticed:
She came from an antique store a couple of years ago, but I think she is more vintage than antique...

I love paperwhites, even if they smell a little funny. I think they are poisonous to cats, but luckily Biscuit shows zero interest in plants after eating some lilies and throwing up all over the house a few years ago (I felt like a bad kitty mommy).

I like all the golden-orange accents in this vignette. My mother always used golden-orange balls on her Christmas tree and this colour reminds me of her!

Since coming home this morning, one of the narcissus has opened up more, as if to say "hello". I think it likes the warm house. I like it here too (it smells like cinnamon and nutmeg and pumpkin and there is nice choral music playing)!

And before I go...I'd like to wish you a very Merry Christmas!

You are each a dear, kind friend to me and I appreciate your love and support all year long. I wish I could give you a big hug this Christmas. Drive safely, eat lots and lots, and have a very merry holiday!

  2. beautiful, terri. for years I forced paper whites but then stopped. your post makes me wish I did some this year. (but my husband does complain about the smell). I am wishing you and yours a wonderful, fun, and headache-free holiday. your friend, donna

  3. So beautifully said, Terri. You're doing well to deal with those paperwhites...instant headache for me every time...though they are so delicate and pretty. The last photograph could be your Christmas card another year...I guess that might be true of any of your photographs. They're that good.

We called friends and went out this evening. I didn't think it would be too busy at the restaurant on Christmas Eve Eve, though I was wrong. We still had a fun visit.

Hope that your time with friends will also be wonderful.

Merry Christmas to you and David!

  4. Merry Christmas to you, Terri. I absolutely LOVE that angel. I was a nun in another life so I'm no stranger to a good angel. She's indeed a good one.

    Merry, merry, merry.

  11. Hi Terri,
I just had to see what you were sharing on your own Christmas post! I hope that we may connect again at some point in 2012.I too adore paper whites, & even love the fragrance too! Lovely images...I had just walked by some the other day & thought I must pick some up to grace my home for the holidays. But... thank you for reminding they are are in the LILY family. Just this year I learned the Lily family can be deadly for cats..just a teeny nibble, the pollen or even the water from a vase can cause irreversible kidney damage. My dear Griffin indeed has kidney damage now which is incurable & I will never know if it was caused by the glorious star gazer lilies in my garden or just the natural course of his life. So all you beauty lover/flower lovers/cat lovers please use caution.... 'Members of the plant genus Lilium including Easter lilies, Tiger lilies, Rubrums, Japanese show lilies, Stargrazer lilies, and Daylilies can be very toxic to felines, causing kidney damage and even death. All parts of the plants are toxic, and a cat can become ill even after chewing on one leaf.
