Danish fern

I've always loved old-fashioned things.

These new Danish fern pieces by Burleigh remind me of transferware, for which I am beginning to acquire a taste. Sadly, I can't find these pieces in Canada and have only seen them at one retailer in Maine, Stonewall Kitchen. Apparently there is a set by Martha Stewart which is similar, but I can no longer find it. If you know where to buy this pattern, please let me know! Otherwise I will be hunting on eBay for this or similar transferware patterns. I want to start researching transferware and maybe get a few serving pieces.

In transferware, I have not decided whether I prefer the brown or red-pink colours. I find the brown rather genteel...but the red (which looks like pink to me) is quite cheerful!

  1. Oh I am so excited! I am now the proud owner of a google reader and your post came through just now to me! I will no longer miss out on posts, I might even be first to comment from time to time as I can buzz right over when I see you have posted!

I love the brown. I happen to own the pinkish and love it too. But brown, like you said, is rather genteel. I would love to have brown.

    Happiest January 2 to you!

  2. I absolutely adore brown transferware for there's something very restful about brown.

I know that Martha Stewart has a set of hand-blown glasses in brown. The color was named for her...let's see if I can find it. Yup, they're called glassybabies:

This is a good source for dishes, too: http://search.replacements.com/texis/search?query=brown%20transferware

Have great fun with your collection!

  8. I have both. But before you think I'm spoiled, I actually got mine at Winners/Homesense...and I actually just got the brown there...and only the dinner plates. I got some of the red from my mum and sister. I have it in the teapot, serving stuff, salt and pepper shakers, etc.

I'm a mess, actually, when it comes to dishes. I buy what I like, in the number I need, and because my tastes change with the wind, I don't invest a lot of money in them. So, I say buy both...even if it's just enough for four...and then which ever one steals your heart, commit to investing further!

Thanks for visiting me. I find myself with a case of the blahs lately. I can't seem to focus on any one thing!! Maybe I'm catatonic??!!

I actually have the Danish Fern dinnerware and I also have the Faux Bois dinnerware as well. Both are great alone or combined together. I bought service for 24 several years ago, and have only seen bits and pieces on eBay.

  10. I really enjoyed viewing your blog. You have such a GREAT eye for decorating. I too like the Danish Fern dishes. I have a few and I was told by Stonewall Kitchen that the set might come out again in the fall! Please add more pictures of your home. May i ask the brandname and the color of paint you chose for your dining room? I looks very vintage. Keep up the good work.

    Hi --

I was just looking at your posts and I found a person, Ross in Minnesota, who is working with the original manufacturer (in England) of the danish fern print to have another run arranged. If you want to email him, I'm sure he would send you the price list too. Check out his blog at http://www.kon-tent.blogspot.com/ and you can email him from there.

I think the faux bois pattern also looks great with this danish fern pattern.

  12. Yes, this is true. I am having the original company that produced this danish fern dinnerware pattern do a small, limited run of the entire range of pieces. I am also having it done in the faux bois dinnerware pattern as well. You can contact me via my website www.kon-tent.com or ross@kon-tent.com. Have an amazing day!

Gday administrator, I just wanted to give you a quick heads up that your Link: http://www.

I'd highly recommend having someone look into it. You could very well lose a lot of site visitors due to this issue. Very best of Luck.
