I picked up this classical architectural print at a local antique store but can't decide if I like it. The shopkeeper knows me and let me bring it home on approval.
The wall above the bed has needed something for a while. I'm not crazy about my Mission-style bed frame, but it won't be changed any time soon. In the meantime, I like the way the columns in the print reference the lines of the bed.
Excuse the unstyled bed...I grabbed this shot when the light was nice and then noticed everything was rumpled! Not much of a stylist, am I?!
Of course I would hang the print just slightly above the bed frame and the print needs a new mat. My only hesitation is the yellow tone of the print which is accented by a yellow mat. I think if I reframe it with a grayer inner mat and fresh white outer mat, it will look lovely.
I am still on the fence as I was planning to buy a black and white architectural print for this space. But the price is right on this and I love the image, so it just might stay. It came out of an old hotel, so has some charming history too.
What think ye?

yes yes yes! I love it :-) if not, I'll buy it -hehe.
ReplyDeleteI concur. Love it!
ReplyDeleteI like it. When you're finished with the new mat and frame, I'll probably not recognize it.
ReplyDeleteI think it looks great!
ReplyDeleteLovely, I think it's lovely and honestly I would not have picked up the columns with the mission headboard. Great eye. You have exquisite taste. And with your plans I believe that the yellow tones will disappear. It will look lovely.
ReplyDeleteAnd how nice that the shop owner lets you take home the art work.
Wonderful.

do it! you might need bigger lamps and possibly an ebony finish on that mission headboard. plus the usual tricks with trim and pillows, and maybe even a darker top sheet.
ReplyDeleteI think it is wonderful, Terri! So nice that you can try it on approval. I like it a lot. Two thumbs up.
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Loi
Yes! I love the yellow between the columns for its seemingly, inviting glow.
ReplyDeleteKeep it.
Every people loves this kind of setting. It looks really comfortable and classical.
ReplyDeleteI'm biased, since I always love prints like that - but I say 'yes'...donna
ReplyDeletei know why you can't decide, it's the frame, it's just too much with that gold, maybe if you'll change the frame you'll like it. greetings from germany
ReplyDeleteI agree. The gold frame popped out at me immediately, which doesn't fit in. I like the print, but in a different matting and frame.
ReplyDeleteIt's a keeper!
ReplyDeleteAll best,
Phyllis

I have heard fantastic things about blogengine.net. Is there a
